A bit more about the site
I'm happy to be carrying on the tradition of personal world-building sites. Social media is nice, but I enjoy having a place that's my own. Some people have asked me what is the point of all this. My purpose isn't particularly deep. There are some aspects of these fictional places that I think are nicer than the real world, and some parts are gentle comments on real-life events, but in general I'm not aiming for either utopia or satire. For the most part they're just different places, creative outlets.
The symbol on these pages is a house mark I made for myself. House marks were used in many Eurasian cultures to label property and sign documents. The picture at the top is a photo of Horseshoe Lake in southern Illinois looking out to Walker's Island. An island glimpsed through reeds and fog is a nice image of world-building.
Disclaimers
If it wasn't clear before, the content related to Ill Bethisad, the ASB, and other constructed worlds is entirely fictional. Way back, when this content was still in GeoCities, a real organization connected to Easter Island copied my imaginary history of Henua and presented it as real. This still happens, judging by the Pinterest boards that some of my graphics have shown up on. I honestly find this kind of thing flattering because it means my work is believable, but I'd rather you not be fooled.
On this site I have some photos to represent my alternate settings. Most were ruthlessly pulled from the Internet without permission and without giving credit, sometimes with copyright info cropped out. For a site like this, it is hard to pass up the potential that Google Image Search has for enriching my settings. I have kept the photos low-res and small to hopefully avoid offense. If I have used your photo and you would like me take it down, please contact me.
